MADURAI: Boys and girls of Ravi Institute of Special Education (RISE) which is situated at Pasumalai in Madurai had emerged as sports champions by bagging gold and silver medals in the CM Trophy Throwball competition held at district level in Madurai on September 16th 2026.
“RISE boys team won gold medal while the girls team had bagged silver medal in the latest district-level competition held on September 16th and this achievement reflects the sustained efforts of students, coaches and our team to develop sporting skills among persons with disabilities”, according to a press release received yesterday from Ravi Institute of Special Education in Madurai which is working for education, rehabilitation, sports, skills, employment and empowerment of special children who are with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
SPECIAL SKILLS FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN:
Stating that RISE from Madurai is continuing its winning tradition in CM Trophy for throwball in last few years, the institute’s press release has said that RISE provides special education along with sports training, life skills, vocational and computer sills, behavioural support, motivation counselling, parent education and employment-oriented guidance for special children who are with intellectual development disabilities in Madurai.
“In the latest Madurai district level competition held on September 16th 2026, the boys and girls teams of RISE had bagged medals. We already have State-level records and it shows that students with intellectual disabilities can excel in sports if we give training and encouragement. We have a dedicated team of special educators who identify the ability of special children, and we also thank the parents who stood by us to give confidence and win medals for their children,” the RISE press release has said and it had expressed its gratitude to Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai which had sponsored the sports costumes of boys and girls teams at RISE in Madurai as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to help the special children.
