
MADURAI: The vision document prepared by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Madurai Zone for building a sustainable, inclusive and future-ready Madurai by the year 2035 even while protecting the city’s rich ancient heritage was commended by the District Collector Mr.K.J.Praveen Kumar here today because of its realistic and practical suggestions.
“Tamil Nadu Government keeps sustainable goals and carbon neutrality in focus in its policymaking process. At a time when we all know how some cities are facing air quality issues daily and severely affected by pollution, the CII Madurai Zone had not only given very good suggestions for Madurai’s future but also gave implementation strategies in its vision document. I will take up the cluster development proposals to our State government because I found these ideas as realistic and practical for taking care of old Madurai and new Madurai,” he said.
The District Collector spoke at the inauguration of CII Madurai Zone’s maiden edition of ‘Pudhu Madurai Green Manufacturing MFG X conference 2026’ in the city on January 10th 2026 where the focus was on environment protection, sustainable infrastructure and innovation-driven industrial development of Madurai city with a good model of economic progress, environmental responsibility and the AI mooted by CII here which is ‘ancient intelligence’.
RIGHT THEME AT RIGHT TIME:
He stressed that the CII Madurai Zone had chosen right theme for the conference with ‘Powering the Next Leap in Sustainable Industrial Grwoth’ as its focus by creating a strategic platform to bring together industry leaders, manufacturers, sustainability experts and innovators to shape a low carbon future-ready industrial ecosystem for Madurai based on clusters model on all sides of the city.
Mr.Ashwin Desai, Chairman, CII-Madurai Zone, has said in his opening remarks that the conference focuses on responsible and sustainable growth of Madurai city and hence it has been aligned with pivotal themes to discuss sustainable energy, green manufacturing, AI, smart urban systems, alternate fuels, electric mobility, water conservation, waste management, energy efficiency etc and the overall objective is emphasize on sustainable industrial growth for Madurai with a vision document dual city roadmap (a new city emerges in 30-60 kms radius as a hub for industry etc)
Dr.S.Rajamohan, founder and managing director of Enviro Care India Private Limited who is also CII Madurai Zone past chairman, had stressed on energy and water conservation methods that are to be followed in Madurai for ‘pudhu Madurai.ai’ vision document 2035 implementation.
Mr.Sabarathinam, convenor-CII Madurai manufacturing and sustainability panel and Plant Head of TVS Srichakra Ltd-Madurai, Mr.P.G.S.Dinesh Davidson, CII Madurai Zone past chairman and assistant VP (operations) at JK Fenner India Limited, Mr.G.Sathiyaseelan, Deisgn Director, Ashok Leyland and Mr.Krishna Mani, Director, Honeywell Technology Solutions who is also CII co-convenor of CII Madurai Zone’s manufacturing and sustainability panel, were among those who spoke at the inaugural session of ‘Pudhu Madurai Green MFG X conference 2026’ in Madurai today.
