MADURAI: The Agri & All Trade Chamber has listed out a few important specific infrastructure facilities that are required for Madurai to draw the attention during Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin’s visit to the city on December 7th 2025 to participate in ‘TN Rising: Madurai Investment Conclave’.

Developing of Madurai as a clean city, stopping the neglect of Madurai airport, establishing of a modern integrated bus terminal-Bus Port in Madurai and tackling of stray dog menace are some of the points raised by S.Rethinavelu, president, Agri & All Trade Chamber, in his appeal to the Chief Minister through a press release issued yesterday.

“The CM’s visit to Madurai on December 7th 2025 brings great hope to the people of this region with focus on inclusive distributed growth. One of the points we want to highlight is the recent survey which said that Madurai is the dirtiest city in India. This has brought enormous disgrace for a historic temple city which is a major tourist destination. If the State government does not take corrective measures, the stigma of dirtiest city will severely hit Madurai’s growth in all sectors,” Mr.S.Rethinavelu has said.

He urged the Chief Minister to announce a high-level committee directly under his (CM) leadership to take up required clean city measures on a war-footing and develop Madurai as a clean city like Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

WHY NEGLECT OF MADURAI AIRPORT?:

The Agri & All Trade Chamber president has also requested the Chief Minister to address the neglect of Madurai airport development. “It has to be an international airport by including it in bilateral BASA agreements with all other countries and also as a tourism city point in ASEAN Bloc countries. The demand for underpass at Madurai airport at Aruppukottai Road must be implemented,” he added.

Reviving the ‘Bus Port’ modern integrated bus terminal project at a suitable location in Madurai, building a large convention and trade centre in Madurai like Chennai Trade Centre and stopping the alarming menace of stray dogs in Madurai by creating dog shelters are some of the important announcements we are expecting at the Madurai Investment Conclave, Mr.S.Rethinavelu has said in his press release from Madurai on December 5th 2025.
