MADURAI: Come new year, the temple city of Madurai which is regarded for Tamil tradition and culture is going to be a global talking point for Tamils living in various countries in the world as highly influential global network ‘The Rise’ is conducting its 16th global summit of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals ‘Sangam 5’ at Ida Scudder Auditorium in Velammal Medical College campus here from January 8th to January 11th 2026.
Nearly 2,000 delegates from 50 countries will attend the Global Summit of Tamil Entrepreneurs besides Tamil entrepreneurs from various States in India to explore trade and business opportunities in various sectors in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet held in Madurai today, the founder of ‘The Rise’ organisation Rev.Dr.Jegath Gaspar Raj has said that the four-day summit is expected to do a business of Rs.2,000 crores based on the enthusiastic response already received from Tamil entrepreneurs in countries like USA, Switzerland, Australia, UAE, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore etc and from the delegates teams coming from African continent.
“We took steps to mobilize global buyers for the Madurai summit. It will be a very good networking platform for getting business orders. Finding global markets for products and services of Tamil entrepreneurs is our priority. The first summit was held in Madurai in the year 2018 and now we are back again in Madurai with clear focus and separate tracks for each sector for imports-exports potential,” he added.
The sectors that are in focus at Madurai summit especially in the backdrop of US tariffs are textiles, leather, agri and food products, engineering products, IT etc besides exclusive track for healthcare, hospitals and medical field.
“There are wings in The Rise organisation and they will curate the sessions and conduct track talks for every sector. It is going to be a great platform to go global with right collaborations for business. Tamil entrepreneurs in India and abroad will see the global buyers for their products in Madurai summit to be held from January 8-11th, 2026,” Rev.Dr.Jegath Gaspar Raj told mediapersons at the press meet here held on December 1st 2025 along with wellknown Tamil entrepreneur from Madurai Mr.Perrys Mahendravel and Dr.Bala Swaminathan from ‘The Rise’ USA.
SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS FOR THE SUMMIT:
A few special initiatives that are being taken by ‘The Rise’ team to commemorate Madurai summit are the opening of a global trade hub at SIPCOT in Nilakottai near here for agriproducts, creating a global Tamil village near Kutralam and steps for introducing an attractive south Tamil Nadu tourism corridor.
The summit will have a blend of culture also and one of the highlights will be ‘Jallikattu’ focus because the summit is taking place just ahead of the Pomgal festival.
