
MADURAI: Tourism promotion activities for Madurai region and southern districts of Tamil Nadu are being taken up in a big way through aggressive promotional events to attract more number of tourists’ inflow.
An important initiative of tourism promotion for Tamil Nadu in general and Madurai in particular was launched here today-September 26th 2025- by the tourism wing called as BOT (Best of Tamil Nadu) of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at a special event organized by the chamber in association with Tourism Department of Tamil Nadu State government.
“Today we are launching BOT app from Madurai that will be like a local tourist guide. We gave a few proposals to the Tourism Department of Tamil Nadu Government to consider our ideas for Madurai city because they can be executed with low budget cost. We gave drone shots of what we can do for promoting Madurai tourism. The BOT app assists the people to plan their journey to Madurai city,” Mr.J.Vijaya Darshan, Chairman, Best of Tamil Nadu (BOT), has said at the launch event held in TN Chamber premises in Madurai today.
The BOT-TN Chamber and the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department of Government of Tamil Nadu had organized a special event named ‘BOTFLUENCE SOUTHSCAPE 2025’ in Madurai today on the occasion of World Tourism Day being celebrated tomorrow.

“The BOT app can be downloaded in your mobiles and there will be a QR code… This is an app that will guide the tourists coming to Madurai city. You can scan the QR code. Our special thanks to the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department for its support. We gave five doable proposals to enhance tourism in Madurai. BOT is here to assist the tourists coming to Tamil Nadu to plan for their journey,” Mr.J.Vijaya Darshan has said.
Five proposals for increasing Madurai tourism include the introduction of boating sport festival in Vandiyur Lake water body (Sundaram Park) on the lines of boating events in Kerala, laser show with water at Teppakulam, developing the Vaigai river front, 3D shows at Tamil Sangam Complex in Madurai to highlight Tamil heritage and creating East Gate Park for Meenakshi Temple.
The tourism promotion proposals for Madurai were formally handed over to the District Tourist Officer Ms.T.Uma Devi at the tourism event here today which was held with the theme ‘Celebrating Heritage, Powering Growth’ to commemorate the World Tourism Day 2025 which is being observed with an international call of tourism and sustainable transformation.
Among those who were present at the app launch function in Madurai today include the top office-bearers of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Mr.V.Neethi Mohan, Mr.S.Sridhar and Mr.J.Selvam.
Awards were presented to those institutions, organisations and individuals who have significantly contributing for Madurai city’s glory at national and international level from their respective fields, and there were cultural shows along with speaker session besides stalls to highlight the ‘Sungudi Saree’ and Vilachery Dolls cum pottery etc.
