India’s Chief Economic Advisor is an old student of Madurai’s Setupati Higher Secondary School; His teachers feel happy for his services to Indian economy

MADURAI: Several old teachers in Madurai have today expressed their happiness with the way in which Dr.V.Anantha Nageswaran, who is the Chief Economic Advisor to the Indian Government and Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi, is now guiding the economy with his vast experience particularly at a time when there are several geo-political issues.

“Our Chief Economic Advisor Dr.V.Anantha Nageswaran is from Madurai, he studied in Setupati Higher Secondary School in Madurai in English medium, and after that he moved to another school for his higher secondary classes to join economics and commerce group in Plus One. It is a matter of pride that he studied in Setupati School in Madurai and after that he went to the American College for undergraduate course. What he is doing today for the whole country is a matter of pride for Madurai, for Setupati School and for American College,” a few old teachers have expressed their jubilant feelings in Madurai today- September 10th 2025- while reacting to the recent GST reforms and the economy road map to become a top country in the world.

Dr.V.Anantha Nageswaran studied from 6th class to 10th class (1973-78) at Setupati Higher Secondary School in Madurai. He visited Setupati School in Madurai along with his family some years back after he got to hold a few top assignments in various countries as economy consultant and venture capital specialist.

According to sources, he contributed his support for procuring classrooms furniture and supported the students many years back and he always remained grateful to his alma mater because his thrust was always on community development and that is what he is doing right now for our Indian economy, one of his old teachers told ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai today.

Dr.V.Anantha Nageswaran was the chief guest for the annual convocation of The American College in Madurai in July 2025.
