CHENNAI: Eminent teachers from various disciplines were presented with ‘Seva Ratna’ award by the HDFC Life here yesterday to commemorate Teachers Day on September 5th 2025.
Persons from different disciplines including doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, engineers and school teachers of over three decades of experience were honoured by HDFC Life with ‘Seva Ratna’ awards as a symbol of respect, gratitude, acknowledgment and selfless contribution being rendered by teachers to the society.
Eminent neurophysician and neurosurgeon Dr.K.Gireesh in Chennai was one among the recipients of the award which was conferred on him for his role in teaching neurology and neurosurgery for last over 30 years and for holding training the trainers sessions in over 25 universities across the country on teaching bioethics to medical and paramedical students, according to a press release received here yesterday after the awards presentation event.
The HDFC Life had felicitated the award recipients including eminent teacher Mr.Ramesh Babu who received it and the awards were handed over by Mr.Vinod Alosysius, Vice President, HDFC Life, at a special event held in Chennai on Teacher’s Day.
“This award elevates the teacher to the status of a precious jewel of service. So, this award is called Seva Ratna. This award conveys a message that teaching is not just a profession but a noble mission. On behalf of Lions movement, I profusely congratulate neurosurgeon Dr.K.Gireesh for being conferred this award,” Lion Dr.Asmath Salim, club administrator, Lions Club of Madras Excellence, has said in his felicitation message.
