CSE and ECE are most preferred courses this year; 8 courses saw less takers in TNEA counselling, says career analyst Jayaprakash Gandhi

MADURAI: Students’ preference trends in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2025 counselling have clearly indicated that the most preferred courses are B.E.(Computer Science and other allied CSE courses) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), according to the latest analysis done by noted career consultant Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi.

He has given some trends and observations after the completion of TNEA 2025 second round academic general counselling and he had released it as a detailed report on August 7th 2025.

“There is an increasing interest for core engineering branches this year and students preference for core branches is more compared to last year. Tamil medium engineering had decreased demand this year,” he said today.

The less preferred engineering courses mentioned in Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi’s analysis as observed in TNEA 2025 counselling are production engineering, automobile engineering, aeronautical engineering, textile chemistry, environment science and technology, agriculture engineering, industrial engineering and management, and interior design.

He said in the analysis report that online choice filling continues to be a nightmare for many students and parents. The total number of engineering seats available in Tamil Nadu for academic counselling are 1,72,589 while the number of seats filled was 79,894 after second round of counselling.

Total number of engineering colleges that participated in TNEA 2025 admissions counselling in the State are 423 and Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi had prepared a fully updated report with details of college-wise allotment analysis.
