MADURAI: The Chairman of Thangamayil Jewellery Ltd Mr.Balarama Govinda Das has today revealed the six golden rules followed by the management and staff and how it had emerged very successfully from being a small showroom in Madurai to the level of top brand in Tamil Nadu as a listed company.

“We started the company in late 70s and in the year 2001 we wanted to expand our business. From being a family-run business, we went for a professional management and today there are 64 showrooms all over Tamil Nadu for Thangamayil Jewellery. To achieve this success with a good brand image, we adhered to six effective principles in our daily functioning from top to bottom starting from myself till the showroom employees,” he said at the inaugural ceremony of MBA program at Thiagarajar College in Madurai today-August 4th 2025.

The six golden rules followed by the retail chain Thangamayil Jewellery are best service to customers, taking care of employees and their families, adopting right technology, team work without ego, innovative ideas and devotion towards God everyday to get divine blessings.

A LISTED COMPANY FROM MADURAI:

“From Madurai, we have shown that anybody can become a listed company and not just for firms from Mumbai alone. Thangamayil Jewellery is an example of success because we followed the six guiding principles. In the year 2010, we became a listed company and at that time we issued shares at Rs.75 per share, and today the share price is around Rs.4,000 including bonus shares. Last year, we gave Rs.38 crores as dividend to our shareholders. All this was possible because of the good management setup we have created in our company,” Mr.Balarama Govinda Das told the gathering and motivated the newly joined MBA students of Thiagarajar College in Madurai.

Stating that there is a good scope for MBA graduates because of opportunities in big and small enterprises, he urged them to put focus on the field they have chosen and follow it with discipline and come out with new ideas.

“Yesterday was ‘Aadi Perukku’ auspicious festival and with some innovative ideas we achieved Rs.175 crores business yesterday. There are 3.500 employees in Thangamayil Jewellery today and everyday our focus is on success,” he added.

Mrs.Uma Kannan, president, Thiagarajar College, Dr.D.Pandiaraja, Principal, Dr.B.Ramani Mabel, Associate Professor, Department of Management Studies (TC-DOMS) and Dr.T.Joel Gnanapragash, associate professor, DOMS were among those present.

Mr.K.Hari Thiagarajan, college Secretary, who addressed the gathering via online at today’s inaugural ceremony, has said that the launching of MBA program is an important milestone for the college and the students who joined this course are of high pedigree.
