
MADURAI: Hundreds of heart patients have today hailed senior interventional cardiologist Dr.A.Madhavan as the heart of Madurai because of his significant contributions for improving heart care services and saving the lives of people who are suffering with cardiac problems.
A special event was organised here on June 25th 2025 to celebrate the 25 years of first ever angioplasty which was done in Madurai and in south Tamil Nadu by heart specialist Dr.Madhavan on June 20th 2000 when he was working at Apollo Hospital in Madurai.
“Today Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre has become a landmark for cardiac care and a right destination for heart patients. I know him for last 35 years and his perfect treatment had saved my wife for many many years. Because of the medicines and treatment given by Dr.Madhavan at that time when we consulted him, my wife lived for 30 years. He is a God’s representative here to take care of our health,” famous ‘Pattimandram’ moderator Mr.Solomon Pappaiah has said while showering heaps of praises for the service being done by Dr.Madhavan and his team.
People from various walks of life including AIADMK MLA and former Mayor of Madurai Mr.V.V.Rajan Chellappa, renowned psychiatrist Dr.C.Ramasubramanian and senior physician Dr.Annamalai Samy had felicitated the senior cardiologist in Madurai today.
Patients who had recovered and are now leading a brisk life thanks to the treatment provided by Dr.A.Mathavan had shared their personal experiences by calling him a pragmatic doctor who takes personal care of his patients. To commemorate the occasion, new advanced medical equipment that facilitates Artiificial Intelligence (AI)- assisted heart treatment diagnosis and angioplasty were introduced at Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre.
Among those who were present at the ’25 heartfelt years’ celebration function include Dr.Vidarshan Mathavan, hospital’s finance director Mrs.Krishna Priya and the staff of Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre who had recollected the day when the first angioplasty was successfully done in June 2000 in Madurai.
