Good news for tourist guides in Tamil Nadu: MKU in Madurai gives free training & ID card in 7 days

MADURAI: For those who want to enter travel and tourism sector in Tamil Nadu, there is a good news from the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here.

The Department of Tourism of Government of Tamil Nadu is currently sponsoring a skill upgradation training programme for tourist guides in the State and it is being organized by the Centre for Tourism and Hotel Management of MKU.

This training is being conducted in various batches as a three-day program for expert guides and as a 7-day program for general guides.

“For those who are aspiring to become travel and tourism guides, this program will be very useful. The Department of Tourism is keen to make tourism services professional in our State and ensure that the guides are equipped with updated knowledge and hospitality skills. Participants are provided with lunch, complete training kit free of cost and also refreshments. After this 3-day or 7-day training, the candidates must clear a computer-based exam and after that they will be awarded a certificate and an official Tour Guide ID Card,” Dr.S.Praveenkumar, Principal Investigator, Centre for Tourism and Hotel Management, Madurai Kamaraj University, has said in a press release here today- June 7th 2025.
