MADURAI: The founder and managing director of Enviro Care India Private Limited from Madurai Prof.Dr.S.Rajamohan had today alerted that Vaigai River which is the water source lifeline for the people living in Madurai and its surrounding areas is in danger right now due to pollution and environment issues.

“Tomorrow is World Environment Day and my suggestion for June 5th 2025 is to keep a close watch on the Vaigai River due to pollution. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’…and it is our duty to make Madurai also as plastic-free city. The micro plastic pollution is very risky and dangerous for our environment in Madurai. There is no free water flow in our Vaigai River in Madurai and that itself is the message for the people here that domestic waste is a big challenge for the government and corporation municipal teams. Solid waste management, avoiding of plastic bags and plastic covers etc become very important to save River Vaigai in Madurai for a free flow of water. This is from our public point of view and of course the rains and nature will take care of the rest. If any in depth study is required, we will help the Madurai Corporation if our project report assistance study for Madurai’s Vaigai River is needed. Right now, we are doing industrial consultancy in various places in Coimbatore etc for waste water discharge treatment,” Prof.Dr.S.Rajamohan has said in Madurai today- June 4th 2025.
