MADURAI: A woman widow employee of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here has made a complaint to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office appealing for immediate action against the university’s Controller of Examinations Prof.T.Dharmaraj who is also a Syndicate member of the university, for the manner in which she was verbally sexually abused by the CoE in his chamber.

R.V.Suganya Subhashini, superintendent in the PG semester section of MKU examinations wing, had written a complaint letter to the Tamil Nadu CM’s office in Chennai on December 9th 2024 by expressing her agony and fears that “I am a widow who lost husband but afraid to say anything because the Controller of Examinations Prof.T.Dharmaraj is a higher official in the university and moreover he is a Syndicate member. I am afraid that I will lose my job in MKU if I say anything against him. I am living as a dead body after my husband’s death. But despite knowing all these things, today out of self-respect, dignity and despite that fact that I have to take care of my two children on my own, I am lodging a complaint to you to initiate legal and disciplinary action against MKU’s Controller of Exams Prof.T.Dharmaraj. This is my humble appeal,” the affected woman R.V.Suganya Subashini has said in her complaint letter to the CM’s office.

The woman employee who is in distress now had also informed in her complaint that her husband passed away in the year 2020 and that she is living with her two children with a huge worry of debts, and that she has been working in the MKU’s examination section for the past 15 years.

She also mentioned in her complaint that the Controller of Examinations Prof.T.Dharmaraj had verbally abused her by saying about caste and that he will complain against her to the Convener’s Committee member Prof.Dr.Mayilvahanan who is looking after the university’s Syndicate committee now for daily regular administration of the varsity.

“I took leave in the month of November for important family domestic reasons from November 5th to 8th and on November 21st, 22nd for my late husband’s insurance work since he died … So, the Controller of Exams is also citing this as a reason to abuse me rvey badly. The controller of exams of MKU had called me to his chamber and he is using abusive words, bad body language against me etc in front of a few employees who are my colleagues. Mr.M.Parthasarathy and Mr.Suresh who are in superintendent position in MKU were witness and they were present when I was harassed and abused with bad vulgar sexual words etc,” the MKU woman employee had stated in her complaint letter to CM office, which was sent to ‘Lotus Times’ English media in Madurai today.
