MKU is all set to establish research park, site finalised: VC informs Academic Council

MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) in Madurai has initiated the process to establish a research park in the campus and the site to set up that proposed research park has been finalized. MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.J.Kumar has informed this while presenting a report at the university’s Academic Council meeting that was held on 21st March 2023. “The Finance Minister of Government of Tamil Nadu made an announcement in the Assembly on 15th March 2022 that universities in the State will be encouraged to set up research parks in their campuses in collaboration with public sector undertakings like TIDCO, SIPCOT and TANSIDCO. As per that announcement, MKU has initiated the process.

The Additional Chief Secretary to government and TIDCO chairman and its managing director along with Madurai District Collector had visited the campus on 12th December 2022 and finalized the site to establish the research park,” the Vice Chancellor said. Prof.J.Kumar informed that the university is eagerly awaiting support from the Tamil Nadu government to establish the research park which will enable startups and innovators to get strengthened through close proximity of ELCOT, initiatives from pharmaceutical departments of Government of India. MKU Registrar incharge Dr.K.Sadasivam, Syndicate members, officials from various departments and Academic Council members were present at the AC meeting that took place in MKU on March 21st 2023.
