COVID, NEP are central to us now: VC Karpaga Kumaravel

MADURAI: The acting Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) Prof.R.Karpaga Kumaravel has said that the teaching-learning methods in education system in India is going in for a total redesign because of COVID-19 challenges.

“The mindset of people will have to change due to Corona challenge effects. COVID-19 poses lot of challenges for us and from our central university, we will look into all aspects from a holistic view for giving best performance oriented work- be it COVID challenge or in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) vision,” Dr.Karpaga Kumaravel told ‘Lotus Times’ English news website- www.lotustimes.org– over phone today- on 6th August 2020. He assumed charge as the in-charge VC of CUTN at Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu yesterday.

An experienced educationist, a senior academician, a good visionary- planner in the field of higher education, Mr.Karpaga Kumaravel is going to use his vast experience in education administration in his new assignment at CUTN, the experience he already has as a former Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here for three years.

“My priority immediately is to meet COVID-19 challenges, to overcome challenges by redesigning teaching-learning system, redesign the pedagogy, change the mindset of people from all parameters. And, the latest New Education Policy implementation will be our focus from CUTN….I will work for specific goal of bringing CUTN to the top by developing NIRF ranking, NAAC grading, infrastructure etc. I will work for holistic development in a transparent manner taking a collective approach for faculty and students,” Prof.Karpaga Kumaravel has said today.
