3,625 from abroad under home quarantine in Madurai dist (Video)

MADURAI: An intesnive review meeting was conducted in Madurai on 27th March 2020 to take stock of Coronavirus prevention measures being implemented in Madurai district.

Minister for Cooperation Mr.Sellur K.Raju held the review meeting at the District Collectorate in the city in which Madurai district collector Dr.T.G.Vinay and all senior officials from various departments participated.

It was informed that 3,625 persons who came from various countries between February 24th and March 23rd were kept under home quarantine in Madurai district after conducting the tests. The passengers arrived here from China, Thailand, Italy, France, Germany and the UK.

CONTROL ROOM:

Similarly another 3,473 who came to Madurai district from other States are also put in home isolation as a precautionary measure and to ensure social distancing.

The district administration and public health authorities took various steps to prevent spread of coronavirus and also for Section 144 curfew imposed to prevent public movement. A Control room with toll free number 1077, and contact numbers 0452-2546160, cell number 95971-76061 were some of the steps taken for people to call and share information.

Cases with FIR were filed on 18 persons who violated the Section 144 rules in Madurai district. Food is being provided to deserving people and roadside dwellers due to the steps taken by Madurai Corporation with support of other departments. Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, Madurai district SP Mr.Manivannan, City Police Commissioner Mr.Davidson Devasirvatham, GRH Dean Dr.Sangumani, Deputy Director of Health Services Dr.Priya Raj and others were present at the Coronavirus prevention review meeting here today.
