MADURAI: The Southern Railway has yesterday clarified to passengers that non-vegetarian breakfast option is available in Vande Bharat express trains and they can continue exercising their option of vegetarian or non-vegetarian breakfast while booking Vande Bharat train tickets.
In a press release on May 31st 2025, the railway authorities said that some sections of the press have reported that non-vegetarian breakfast is not available in some Vande Bharat trains.
“On the contrary, 603 non-veg breakfasts were served in Vande Bharat trains in southern zone on May 30th and 1,302 non-veg breakfasts were served on May 31st. There is a technical glitch which CRIS is trying to resolve,” the Southern Railway press release added and also released details of non-vegetarian breakfast served in some Vande Bharat trains in southern zone on May 30th and 31st 2025.
For example, 77 non-veg breakfasts were served on May 31st in Train No.20644 Coimbatore-Chennai Central VB train, 411 non-neg breakfasts served in Train No.20634 Trivandrum Central-Kasargod Vande Bharat Train on May 31st and 398 Non-Veg breakfasts were served in Train No.20631 Mangalore-Trivandrum Central VB train while 173 non-vegetarian breakfasts were served to passengers in Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat train route on May 31st 2025.
