MADURAI: The traditional game of Tamil Nadu -‘Silambam’ and self defence skill ‘Karate’- are still a passion among the children.
That was visible in Madurai on 17th and 18th February 2020 at the training sessions organized for children and students who are being coached to take part in the international ‘Karate-Silambam’ competition to be held in Goa soon.
A thorough training is being imparted to youngsters by VKS Silambam & Yoga Martial Arts Trust here with the encouragement of South India Traditional Silambam Sports Academy, Tamil Nadu Traditional Silambam Sports Association and others under the guidance of Mr.K.Shanmugavel. The Cholan Book of World Records stands as a highlight here.
“It is a traditional game…we have to encourage and motivate our young children to go for learning ‘Silambam’ and Karate. Vignesh Silambu Trust and Madurai Martial Arts Academy are supporting and training our kids for international level competitions and for the important one that is coming up at Goa,” the organisers have said here today.
