MADURAI: In an attempt to support local artisans by creating a space to market their products, an exclusive stall named as ‘IYAL’ was opened at Vishaal De Mall in Madurai today-November 6th 2026- thanks to the initiative and support by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) through its ‘Stall in Mall’ concept which is now being implemented in various parts of the country.
This stall will be open for next 90 days thereby giving a chance for small scale women entrepreneurs and local artisans to display their products during the current festive season, and ‘IYAL’ will be an outlet for handicrafts and traditional products with Geographical Indication (GI) recognition.
The ‘stall in mall’ in Madurai was given shape in association with Voluntary Association for People’s Service (VAPS) and Green Fem Producers Company which are empowering several women with entrepreneurial skills and livelihood opportunities.
C.Ganesan, General Manager of NABARD at its regional office in Chennai, had inaugurated the ‘IYAL’ stall at Vishaal De Mall here today morning in the presence of Prashant T Naik, Lead District Manager-Canara Bank in Madurai, A.S.Sakthi Balan, District Development Manager of NABARD-Madurai, S.A.Arul, secretary of VAPS, G.Elamathi, Director of Green Fem and Priya Babu of Transgender Resource Centre.

We are here to support our rural artisans and local producer organisations with good retail market linkage so that they can reach urban customers easily. That is the objective of our bank’s ‘Stall in Mall’ programme,” the NABARD officials said while speaking at the inaugural function.
