
MADURAI: The pending DVAC enquiry into the alleged corruption case against former Principal and Secretary of country’s top NIRF-ranked The American College in Madurai Dr.M.Davamani Christober is expected to be initiated and finished very soon following the order given by Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on September 30th 2026.
The HC direction to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption of Tamil Nadu State government complete the enquiry within a period of 30 days was welcomed by the voices of ‘Save American College Movement’ here and they appreciated the efforts taken by petitioner Mr.R.Ganesh Prabu to speed up the case and bring out the truth.
“Honourable Dr.Justice P.Murugan heard the matter when it came up before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on September 30th 2026 and he had issued an order on my prayer as a petitioner that a full-fledged DVAC enquiry against former Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober was getting delayed for last two years and only preliminary probe was done till now. So, the HC order gives us a great hope now that the investigating agency will swing into action once again and complete the probe in the next 30 days,” petitioner Mr.R.Ganesh Prabu has said today when contacted by ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai.
ALL DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED:
The petitioner has said that concrete documents on the assets details, movable and immovable properties of the former Principal and Secretary of The American College Dr.M.Davamani Christober were already submitted to the DVAC but nothing much had happened except a preliminary enquiry for reasons not known till now.
“The Government advocate had submitted in the court that it is true that the complaint of the petitioner is under enquiry and that the respondent is now ready to complete the enquiry within a period of 30 days from today (September 30th 2026). The submission of the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) is recorded and therefore the respondent DVAC is directed to complete the enquiry within a period of 30 days until dispose of the same on merits in accordance with law,” the order copy has said and pointed out the apprehension of the petitioner that DVAC was not doing its enquiry in this complaint in a fast manner despite many appeals.
The petitioner has today expressed confidence that the direction of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court will be the decisive step in this case because the order also says that “if the respondent fails to complete the enquiry within the said period as submitted by Government advocate, it is left open to the petitioner to move a contempt proceedings against the enquiry officer”.
Sources said that the corruption charges include taking money for staff appointments, acquiring assets beyond income sources, immovable properties etc.
