MADURAI: Popular social worker in Madurai and founder chairman of ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ Mr.Nellai Balu who is an active Rotary member from Madurai was recognized for his social service being done daily from Madurai.
Mr.Nellai Balu was honoured with an award in the category of ‘Excellence in Public Service & Social Development’ by Radio City Business Titans-Chapter 5 Sri Lanka, for his committed service through poor feeding via ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ and he received the recognition in the event which was attended by cricket legend from Sri Lanka Mr.Sanath Jayasuriya who was invited as celebrity guest for the awards presentation event held in Sri Lanka from June 19th to June 22nd 2026.
“Our Trust which is working from Madurai is poor feeding for last six years and daily we are providing free food in the afternoon lunch to 300 needy poor deserving persons in Madurai at various places in the city like GRH wards for inpatients, Periyar Bus Stand, railway station etc. So far we provided free food to meet the poor people’s hunger of 6 lakh needy persons and already we got awards for our social service, and we were recognized by the Madurai district administration and State government. Our work daily is to provide food for the hunger…and the award which I got in Sri Lanka today is being dedicated to all out donors and public supporters who stood with us in our poor feeding mission,” Mr.Nellai Balu (Rotary Club senior member in Madurai) has said on behalf of his ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ (94426-30815) while thanking Radio City FM which is a Jagran initiative that conducted the awards event of Chapter 5 in Sri Lanka from June 19th to June 22nd 2026.
