Jute shows the route for women’s success; VAPS holds jute bags training programme in Madurai

MADURAI: The Voluntary Association for People’s Service (VAPS) at Besant Road in Chokkikulam in Madurai had conducted a one-month training programme in jute products making for women as a part of entrepreneurship-cum-skill development initiative of Ministry of MSMEs of Government of India and National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme), Madurai.

Certificates were distributed on June 24th 2026 to 25 women who underwent this skill training to be a launchpad for their entrepreneurial journey and livelihood, according to a press release received from VAPS today.

Mr.S.A.Arul, VAPS secretary and Dr.M.Subburajan, project officer at VAPS Training Centre-Madurai took part in the certificate distribution event held yesterday while senior journalist Mr.Shastry V Mallady of ‘Lotus Times’ English news website was invited to speak a few motivating points and encourage the emerging businesswomen from Madurai.

“VAPS has consistently focused on strengthening the livelihood opportunities for women either individually or in groups. Mr.S.A.Arul spoke on the growing importance of jute bags as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic,” the press release added.

Dr.M.Subburajan had urged the women to pursue their business journey in jute products and project manager at VAPS Mr.J.Sundara Kannan had proposed a vote of thanks by emphasizing that VAPS’s mission is to transform the trained women into confident and self-reliant entrepreneurs.
