MADURAI: The Madurai Division of Southern Railway has won five shields for its outstanding performance during the year 2025-26.
The awards were presented at the 71st Railway Week Celebrations-Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar 2026 ceremony held in Chennai, according to a railway press release here on June 11th 2026.
Mr.Om Prakash Meena, Divisional Railway Manager-Madurai Division, had received the awards from Mr.R.N.Singh, General Manager of Southern Railway, along with branch officers of Madurai Division in the presence of Southern Railway Additional General Manager Mr.Vipin Kumar and principal heads of departments.
The Madurai Division bagged operating efficiency shield with Chennai and Salem Divisions, and mechanical efficiency shield with Tiruchichirapalli Division. Also, the division received runner-up shield for RailMadad which addresses the passengers’ issues and shield for Best Railway School (Railway Higher Secondary School in Madurai) and the shield for best maintained running room from Madurai, the press release had informed.
