
Cow dung based bio-CNG awareness program at ACRI campus in Madurai on May 24th 2026.
MADURAI: In an important initiative to create awareness on converting cow dung and bio-degradable waste into BIO-CNG, a special program was conducted in Madurai to showcase the startup opportunities that are available in green economy mission.
To commemorate the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026, the second pastoral bio-economy awareness programme was conducted on May 24th 2026 at Agricultural College and Research Institute campus here with a clear focus on ‘Bio-Degradable Waste to Bio-CNG (cow dung based) and the sustainable startup opportunities that can tapped for a greener rural future.
This BIO-CNG awareness program was jointly organized by GoPals which is actively engaged in promoting pastoral bio-economy and ‘Thozhuvam FPCL’ in Madurai whose mission is to be a gateway for pastoral bio-economy initiatives.
RURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IDEAS:
“There were 80 participants including farmers, entrepreneurs and researchers. Bio-CNG business models, gas purification technologies, government schemes, financial support options, sustainable rural entrepreneurship ideas etc were explained to them. Documentary screenings and field experience sharing sessions were arranged to give a comprehensive idea about sustainable waste management,” according to a press release from the organisers here yesterday.
Mr.Vigneshwaran Prabakaran, co-founder and DGM of SLR Energy-Cuddalore, Dr.V.Palaniselvam, professor (biofuels, biogas and solar), Dr.P.Kabilan, pastoral bio economist from ‘Thozhuvam’, Mr.Ramasubramanian Thiyagarajan, founder of GoPals and Mr.Premkumar, director, Pasukootam Pvt Ltd were invited as expert speakers to create awareness about Bio-CNG as startup opportunity, business models, bio-CNG projects with government schemes, biogas digester using pastoral cow dung and gas purification technologies for bioCNG production.
