Madurai South BJP candidate Prof.Raama Sreenivasan for 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
MADURAI: The candidates’ list which was announced today- on April 3rd 2026- by the BJP for its 27 assembly constituencies where it is going to contest in coming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu has given a clear signal to the MLA contesting candidates to go for a strong poll campaign mode on a very vibrant confident note across the State in various districts for NDA victory.
BJP has released its list of candidates for assembly elections 2026 in Tamil Nadu on April 3rd 2026 and one of the key constituencies is Madurai South assembly constituency from where one of the popular intellectual voices of BJP Prof.Raama Sreenivasan has been fielded as BJP candidate by the party to take on the DMK led alliance in the 2026 Assembly elections from Madurai South assembly segment.
“I am very very sure that I will win in Madurai South as a candidate and will enter the assembly as a BJP MLA from Madurai South constituency. The reason is very simple and easy to understand for voters. There are totally 1.77 lakh votes in Madurai South constituency. The polled votes last time was 1.2 lakh votes. When we stood alone without any alliance in the previous MP elections, our BJP got 42,000 votes, CPM got 45,000 votes and AIADMK got 26,000 votes. And, I was the MP candidate from Madurai in the last Lok Sabha elections held in year 2024. In the last Parliament elections, I secured 2,22,000 votes in Madurai Lok Sabha constituency and stood in second place by pushing popular parties in our region to the backseat. So, 100 per cent I will win and the BJP will have its MLA in the assembly from Madurai South,” Prof.Raama Sreenivasan had exuded confidence while sharing his confidence about BJP prospects in 2026 TN Assembly elections in a casual chat with ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai last week.
The BJP appears very sure that Prof.Raama.Sreenivasan will win from Madurai South by putting its facts and figures.
“Last time in MP elections, our BJP got 42,000 votes in Madurai South segment, the AIADMK secured 26,000 votes and CPM got 45,000 votes in the Lok Sabha MP elections in Madurai. The combined votes number of BJP and AIADMK in Madurai South was 68,000 votes in this assembly constituency. And, the total votes number is 1,77,000 while the total polled votes in Madurai South was 1.2 lakh votes last time. We know the numerical numbers of all communities in Madurai South assembly constituency, we know about the caste groups, their population and who voted for whom in 2024 Parliament elections. Top leaders of BJP from national and State level are coming to campaign in Madurai South segment. When we went alone without alliance last time, the BJP got 42,000 votes in Madurai South and so we are pretty sure that NDA alliance will make our victory easy in Madurai South this time,” the BJP candidate has said while sharing his confidence with ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai recently.
When asked about the TVK and film actor Vijay’s possible chances of damaging the winning chances of various parties, the BJP candidate from Madurai South Prof.Raama Sreenivasan has said that actor Vijay will damage all parties by splitting their votes and that will neutralize the damage that may happen for BJP because of TVK in Madurai South.
