MADURAI: Mr.R.N.Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as Governor of West Bengal and the Governor of Kerala Mr.Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will discharge the functions of Tamil Governor as additional charge.
The President of India has appointed Governors for nine States and a press communique was issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan last night- March 5th 2026- informing that their appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.
The shifting of R.N.Ravi from elections bound Tamil Nadu to another poll-bound State of West Bengal is seen as yet another important move from the national capital, because of the strained relations between Governor and the Chief Minister for last few years in Tamil Nadu and he has been moved to another politically sensitive State of West Bengal where Ms.Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is in power right now and going for elections very soon.
These appointments of new Governors were made yesterday after the President has accepted the resignation of West Bengal Governor Dr.C.V.Ananda Bose yesterday.
Mr.Shiv Pratap Shukla, Governor of Himachal Pradesh has been appointed as Telangana Governor while the present Telangana Governor Mr.Jishnu Dev Varma is appointed as Maharashtra Governor.
