The Rajasthan affection link with TN: Rajasthani-Tamil Seva Awards 2026 presented in Chennai

MADURAI: Rajasthani-Tamil Seva Awards were presented to individuals and institutions in recognition of their outstanding contributions to social and cultural development of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry through tireless efforts in their respective fields.

The awards which were instituted by the Rajasthani Association Tamil Nadu (RAJAT) were presented to five awardees at a glittering event held in Chennai on February 8th 2026 by Supreme Court judge Justice R.Mahadevan who was the chief guest for awards presentation function.

Thoe who were conferred the awards were Dr.Sudha Seshayyan (public service), Mr.B.Sargunanathan (chief Othuvar and custodian of Saivite musical heritage), Mr.K.R.Raja (social reformer and architect), Payir Trust from Perambalur for rural development and Primary Health Centre in Chennai. Each recipient was recognized with a citation, medal and a cash prize of Rs.2 lakhs.

“Honouring the son of the soil is a delightful thing. The eminent awards jury had very thoughtfully selected the awardees and I am partiuclarly mentioning about Payir Trust which has been focusing on conserving our water bodies, rural empowerment and agriculture initiatives to support the farmers,” Justice R.Mahadevan has said.

Mr.Narendra Srisrimal, president of Rajasthani Association Tamil Nadu, Mr.Anil Kicha, convenor, Rajasthani-Tamil Awards 2026 and Mr.Ajit Chordia, chairman of awards committee, have highlighted the deeprooted connection of the third generation Rajasthani community with Tamil Nadu and said that the association will continue with conferring awards to honour the deserving people and institutions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

“A shortlisting committee had reviewed more than 200 applications as a first step of the selection process. Subsequently, a five-member jury which was led by Editor of Thuglak weekly Mr.S.Gurumurthy had selected the final five awardees from eight different categories. Our association did not involve or interfere at all and so these awards carry lot of credibility,” CA Anil Kicha has said.

Mr.N.Ravi, former Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, who was the guest of honour and also a jury member, has said that people from Rajasthan have moved from their State to various parts of the country and one of the significant aspects of Rajasthani culture is their philanthropy and compassion, the spirit towards education and social service.
