
MADURAI: Special children in Madurai had a memorable evening yesterday as a special event was organized for them for celebration, felicitation and motivation.
Ravi Institute of Special Education (RISE) which is situated in Bethany Nagar at Pasumalai in the city had its tri-function on December 2nd 2025 to celebrate its first anniversary, Christmas and felicitate the special achievers who won medals in various sports events at State and national level.
Prominent persons were invited for the special occasion including Mrs.D.Jeyakumari Jemi Rethna, District and Sessions Judge-Madurai, Dr.Pugalagiri Vadamalayan, Chairman and Managing Director of Vadamalayan Hospitals, Mr.K.Samidurai, high court advocate and secretary of Indian Lawyers Association, Mr.Abinath Chandran, Managing Director, Queen Mira International School (QMIS) and Dr.Vinod Bose, chief dentist, V Bose Dental Care.
MANY SUCCESS STORIES:
“Today’s ‘Mupperum Vizha’ is a thanks-giving event for us to acknowledge all those who stood with RISE to provide special care to to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our students like G.Vikash represented India in cricket series held in England in June this year and the team came as runner-up. Like that, several of our students secured medals in various national and State level competitions. Along with sports, we are providing regular education also for special children to give them social recognition. Our students are appearing for TNPSC exams while a few others are getting private jobs,” RISE founder Mr.R.Ravikumar has said in his welcome address.

THESE CHILDREN ARE SUPERSTARS:
QMIS Managing Director Mr.Abinath Chandran has said that the performance of RISE students has amply proved that special children are superstars even though they have some difficulties. “Supporting the special children is a social cause and this institute has shown practical results. Our special appreciation goes to the teachers who are doing a great work,” he added.
While Dr.Pugalagiri Vadamalayan had lauded the spirited parents of special children, High Court advocate Mr.K.Samidurai spoke about the significant contributions being made by RISE founder Ravikumar for the cause of children with intellectual disability.
SPECIAL ACHIEVERS FELICITATED:
A few special special achievers were felicitated at this event and they include S.Vishnukumar who bagged silver medal in roller skating at the National Special Olympics held in Amritsar this year. G.Vikash (cricket), B.Aravind (table tennis), M.Rajasimman and K.Madeshwaran (power lifting) were among those who stood as proud achievers of RISE in the last one year with their medals.
