Rotary Club conducts breast cancer camp in Madurai with Guru Hospital; urges women to go for early screening

Breast cancer screening camp at Kallandiri near Madurai on November 9th 2025.

MADURAI: The Rotary Club of Madurai Central had conducted breast cancer screening camp at Kallandiri near here on Sunday- November 9th 2025 for the benefit of women in that area to go for free tests and get doctors’ medical advice.

This camp was conducted by the Rotary club in association with Guru Hospital in Madurai and Voice Trust with the support of health department of Madurai district, according to a press release. More than 70 women were screened at this breast cancer screening camp which was organized at Kallandiri Primary Health Centre on Alagarkoil Road here.

Those who were invited for the inauguration of the screening camp include Dr.S.G.Balamurugan (surgical oncologist), Chairman of Guru Hospital, Dr.B.Kalpana, Managing Director of Guru Hospital and infertility/women’s health specialist, Dr.P.Kumara Gurubaran, Deputy Director of Health Services-Madurai district, Mr.J.Karthick, Rotary District Governor and Mr.T.Murugesan, executive director of Voice Trust-Madurai.

The Rotary team members including Mr.C.Prasanna (secretary) and Mr.A.C.Vishnu Ram along with Block Medical Officer Dr.Najimarani had stressed on the importance of early screening and how the breast cancer camp at Kallandiri had helped the people of Kallandiri and surrounding areas.
