MADURAI: Dr.M.Hanumantha Rao, Executive Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Madurai, was honoured in a grand manner for his significant contributions to the field of anaesthesiology in the country.
The Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh had honoured him at the 3rd Balaji Gold Medlal Chair Oration which was delivered by him at SVIMS in Tirupati on November 8th 2025, where he spoke about the importance of anaesthesia in the field of medicine.
He was invited to deliver the oration in Tirupati SVIMS as a recognition to honour individuals who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in the field of anaesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine, the organizers said.
The SVIMS anaesthesia team had recalled the exemplary contributions of Prof.Dr.M.Hanumantha Rao who is now the ED and CEO of AIIMS-Madurai for his role in the area of perioperative care, ICU development and avademic leadership in anaesthesia speciality in the field iof medical care.

Speaking at Tirupati, the Madurai AIIMS Director had stressed in his lecture about the role of Artificial Intelligence in anaesthesia these days. The top brass of SVIMS led by Vice-Chancellor Dr.R.V.Kumar and its top brass Dean Alok Sachin, M.S.Ram and doctors team of Sivakumar, Alok Sumant Rai had honured the AIIMS director from Madurai on November 8th 2025.
