CCTVs, bio-metric and digital monitoring by IGNOU soon

CHENNAI: Distance education major Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is further strengthening its support services network across the country by going in for additional digital, online, bio-metric systems, CCTVs to enhance the support services arm of the varsity for better service to students.

Dr.M.Shanmugham, Director of Regional Services Division at IGNOU Headquarters in New Delhi, told ‘Lotustimes’ website over phone on 11th November 2019 that the support services rendered by the university will be upscaled and digital / online monitored very soon.

“The learner support centres will get more focus from IGNOU Headquarters…..We are in the process of finalizing new proposals. The Ministry of Human Resources Development is keen to improve services in education sector and our university is enhancing digital mode,” Dr.Shanmugham has said.

Once the new tech-based facility is place, it will help in better monitoring of IGNOU support services system through CCTVs, bio-metric etc since IGNOU’s focus has been strong on e-learning, web conferencing, tele-connectivity, ‘Gyan Darshan’ etc in a big way in tune with the latest trends in education sector. 

“This is a digital initiative from our university. We have 3,200 study centres and 56 Regional Centres….Our university will tie-up and work closely with learner support centres to improve support services and make them much more student-friendly,” he added.
