MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA) has today made a firm demand for the immediate removal of some faculty members who are presently holding important administrative positions in the varsity including the Special Officer, Dean of Research and others.

“The promotions given under the Career Advancement Scheme CAS 2017 and 2020 have procedural violations. Due to these irregularities, two committees were formed and both the committees submitted their recommendations in February 2024 and directed immediate action. Even after repeated reminders from the government, the university authorities have deliberately failed to act,” the MUFA had alleged in a representation given to MKU Registrar here today-September 24th 2025.

The letter was signed by MUFA president Dr.T.Arokiadoss, general secretary Dr.C.Muniyandi and treasurer Dr.V.Shanmugaiah and they demanded for immediate implementation of the recommendations of the high-level committees – one headed by Hon’ble Justice Akbar Ali and another committee constituted under the orders of the Tamil Nadu government.

“The MKU Registrar along with some senior professors (whose names are clearly mentioned in the committee enquiry reports) is obstructing the mistakes rectification process when an attempt is made to rectify the CAS promotion files of 2017 and 2020. Because of this nexus, CAS 2022 has been completely stopped, and young faculty members now face injustice, career promotion delays and humiliation. On the other hand, those who have committed violations continue to remain safe and they are acting with the intention of taking revenge on other professors. This is a sabotage of CAS promotions in Madurai Kamaraj University,” the MUFA team has said in its letter to the university Registrar, which was released to the media today evening.

The main demand of MUFA is that the faculty members mentioned in the high level committee report should be removed from all administrative responsibilities, and that they should not be allowed to participate in the Finance Committee meetings and Syndicate meetings of the varsity when CAS promotions agenda is being discussed.

“If MKU authorities continue to shield the violators in the campus, MUFA will intensify its struggle for CAS promotions till justice and transparency are restored. We gave a representation to the Registrar today with our main demands and we want justice for CAS 2022 promotions,” MUFA general secretary Dr.C.Muniyandi has said today about the decisions taken at its executive committee meetings for faculty welfare.
