MADURAI: Top career guidance consultant Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has today released a comprehensive analysis of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2025 giving a clear picture based on the completion of second round of academic general counselling.

Taking the college-wise allotment into account, he has informed on August 7th 2025 that 22 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu had zero admissions till now in this year’s counselling out of the total 423 engineering colleges that had participated in TNEA 2025 counselling process for student admissions.

In 148 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, the number of seats filled till now is less than 10 per cent and in 147 colleges, the engineering seats filled so far is more than 50 per cent.

“Colleges with more than 90 per cent seats filled are 56 (27 are self-financing) while engineering colleges with more than 80 per cent seats filled are 82. The areas of concern this year is that 69 colleges have filled less than 10 seats thereby making their sustainability and academic quality questionable. Over 276 engineering colleges in the State have not filled even 50 per cent of their seats,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has said in his analysis report today.

The total number of engineering seats available for academic counselling in Tamil Nadu are 1,72,589 and the total seats filled till Round 2 of counselling are 79,894. So far, only 46.34 % of seats got filled and the seats available for final round of TNEA 2025 counselling are 92,605.

“The expected participants in the final round is 1,01,590 and the estimated number of vacant seats post-counselling is around 45,000. Key insights we have noticed this year is that students continue to prioritize top-ranked institutions over specific branches or proximity to their homes. There is a clear preference for urban colleges,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has said in the engineering admission trend analysis report on August 7th 2025.
