- MADURAI: The first phase of a massive cleanliness drive had commenced at Madurai Railway Junction here today-August 1st 2025 with removal of garbage from the railway premises including station area and track side.
This is a part of the cleanliness drive ordered in the Indian Railways for the Independence Day celebrations 2025 and the first phase is from August 1st to August 15th.
Divisional Railway Manager Mr.Om Prakash Meena had administered ‘Swachhata pledge’ to officers and staff at a special event held at DRM office premises here today, according to a press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway.
Cleanliness initiatives and awareness programs will be conducted in the next three months in two phases. The second phase will focus on maintaining cleanliness in trains, railway stations and all railway establishments.
Among those who were present in today’s drive include Chief Project Manager-Gati Sakthi Mr.K.Harikumar, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Mr.P.Mohamed Jubir, Divisional Mechanical Engineer (EnHM & Freight) Mr.Gundewar Badal and Divisional Personnel Officer Mr.T.Sankaran along with supervisors and railway staff.
