TN Governor institutes organic farming award in the name of agriculture scientist Dr.Nammazhvar with cash prize and gold medal every year

MADURAI: The Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr.R.N.Ravi had instituted an award in the name of renowned agriculture scientist and environmentalist late Dr.G.Nammazhvar who did pioneering work in the organic farming.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, the Governor has instituted an award named ‘Nammazhvar Best Post Graduate Research in Organic Farming’ to carry forward the enduring legacy of great agriculture scientist and environmentalist late Dr.G.Nammazhvar who did pioneering work in environment conservation, a press release issued by Raj Bhavan-Tamil Nadu from Chennai has said today- June 7th 2025.

This award will be conferred annually by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University-Coimbatore to the student who has done the best significant and noteworthy research in organic farming. It will be awarded during the annual convocation of the university, and this award will carry a cash award of Rs.50,000, a gold medal and a citation.

“The award aims to inspire our researchers to advance organic farming, supporting India’s progress in sustainable agriculture and its growing presence in the global organic sector,” the Raj Bhavan press release from Chennai has said.
