MADURAI: The BJP is kick-starting a massive public campaign in Madurai district demanding the Tamil Nadu State government to revive – open the granite quarries in the interest of people’s livelihood and for public cause.
The first phase of this two-day campaign is being launched by the Madurai Rural district BJP from Idaiyapatti – Melur area on December 16th 2018 Sunday at 3 p.m. Many villages will be covered through ‘Yatra’ and processions / meetings on December 16th and 17th.
VIDEO MESSAGE OF BJP Prof.Dr.R.SRINIVASAN:
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan already had several informal meetings with the affected granite industry representatives and workforce and collected factual reports on how the closure of granite quarries had hit the people of Madurai district from socio-economic perspective ever since the shutdown decision taken in the year 2012.
The BJP campaign will cover several villages in Melur and Madurai East where thousands of people lost their jobs, wages and livelihood because of fallacious and misconceived reports about violations in granite quarries.
“Madurai Rural district BJP president Mr.Maha.Suseendhran and his team are doing lot of work in Melur area especially in this granite issue…..The report and observations of former Madurai district collector U.Sagayam is misconceived……..So, the BJP will take up this public cause and extend our solidarity……We must be sensitive to the people’s problems…..”, Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, has said in Madurai on December 12th 2018.
