BJP’s PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FOR MADURAI GRANITE QUARRIES (VIDEO PART-1)

MADURAI: The Madurai Rural district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is undertaking a two-day public campaign demanding reopening of granite quarries and revival of granite factories in Madurai district immediately by the Tamil Nadu State government.
 
On December 16th and 17th 2018, BJP cadres along with people from various walks of life and people from affected villages in Madurai rural areas who lost their livelihood due to shutdown of granite quarries, will walk through various hamlets and villages in Melur taluk and Madurai East.
 
The campaign walk will commence at Idayapatti village at 3 p.m.on December 16th 2018 Sunday. It will cover villages en route and reach Melur where a public meeting will be held near Melur bus stand at around 6 p.m.. 
 
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan will take part in the campaign and address the people.

Mr.Maha.Suseendhran, Madurai Rural district BJP president, has said on December 12th 2018 that thousands of families in Madurai Rural areas have lost their livelihood because of the closure of granite quarries in one stroke six years ago by the district administration based on misconceived reports.
 
“The Tamil Nadu Government must reopen the granite quarries and come to the rescue of poor people, workers and labourers who were dependent on granite units for their wages…..Also, lack of rains and crop failure led to more distress of people near Melur…..Granite quarries had been a major source of employment and livelihood for people,” Mr.Maha.Suseendhran said.
 
On December 17th 2018, the BJP Madurai Rural campaign will cover Karuppayoorani, Varichur. Othakadai and other places.
