MADURAI: Samayanallur police in Madurai district today (May 21st 2024) issued summons to a Dean of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here in a complaint given by a woman alleging harassment by one MKU Dean.
Reliable official sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media website here today evening that a woman cop from Samayanallur police station went to MKU today morning at around 11 am and informed the university Registrar’s office about a woman’s complaint against MKU’s College Development Council Dean Prof.P.Kannadasan that she was harassed and abused.
“The complaint demanding police action was given by a MBA girl student against the Head of Department of Management Studies Prof.Kannadasan. Based on this complaint, the Samayanallur police went to MKU campus today morning and informed the MKU Registrar about this complaint. Police asked the CDC Dean in-charge/Head of Department of Management Studies of MKU Prof.Kannadasan to come to Samayanallur police station for questioning. A woman constable had given this information to the university’s senior level officials today,” sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai.
A few university employees had appealed to the Tamil Nadu police and Madurai police to do a full-fledged enquiry in this complaint because there is a talk about some “connections” who are trying to influence the case. The Dean was asked to come to police station for enquiry and to take his version in this case, sources said.
Several voluntary organizations across Madurai region have been informed about this complaint because it is a harassment against filed by a woman against a MKU Dean who had allegedly insulted and showed his bad behaviour intention against this woman,” varsity sources said today- May 21st 2024.
Our media ‘Lotus Times’ had tried to contact the MKU Registrar four times today evening to get more details about this police complaint but there was no response. There are appeals that political connections and caste influence should not come in this case because it is a complaint connected to Madurai Kamaraj University which is a great higher education institution in India.
