MADURAI: Preliminary information received from various reliable sources in the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here today has indicated that several office-bearers of MKU Faculty Association (MUFA) are unhappy and disappointed with the present MUFA general secretary Prof.Dr.S.Pushparaj who is also a Syndicate member of the university.

“There are lots of difference of opinion and ideas. Many of our members are not happy with the way things are going in MUFA right now in Madurai Kamaraj University. There are 13 EC members in MUFA, and among them only four or five EC members are supporting our general secretary Prof.Dr.S.Pushparaj, because MUFA became a personal agenda and fully politicized,” a senior elected member of MUFA told ‘Lotus Times’ media website in Madurai on February 6th 2024.

The accusation coming from several members of MUFA is that the association general secretary Prof.Dr.S.Pushparaj is carrying some personal agenda with influence of a political ideology and hence many office-bearers have appealed to relieve them.

“Our general secretary is from Economics Department…..He is an elected Syndicate member, but he has not allowed Career Advancement Scheme CAS process and it was delayed only because of MUFA general secretary Dr.S.Pushparaj. There are two different groups and ideologies working in MKU right now, we got frustrated with this and moreover MUFA doesn’t take our opinions,” said an elected member of MUFA on February 6th 2024.

A few members said today that the recent actions and decisions of MUFA are not faculty-centric and hence elected EC members and others are keeping away from MUFA these days.

“We are not responsible for the decisions of MUFA because many faculty members are not in agreement with them….Our names should not be used,” a couple of MUFA members told ‘Lotus Times’ English media website today.
