MADURAI: The Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai has started ‘Young Gandhians Forum’ to take the message and doctrine of Mahatma Gandhi to the younger generation in a more effective manner that suits the present trend and to involve students and youth in this mission.

This forum was formally inaugurated at a function organized in the Gandhi Memorial Museum here on January 14th 2023. Gandhian Thought expert and a strong voice of Think Right Intellectual Forum Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan had inaugurated the ‘Young Gandhians Forum’ and addressed the gathering on how Gandhiji was able to create a high impact and gave an inspirational influence for people not only in India but across several countries in the world.

“Right understanding of Mahatma Gandhi is very important. If you understand Gandhi, you will understand India. Gandhian Thought is a value addition for Indian Thought. A good beginning is made from Madurai today and this forum must create Gandhi communicators because what he preached and practiced is relevant forever. Gandhiji was born in 19th century, his struggle for freedom of our country was in 20th century and still he is the most talked person in 21st century. That shows his power and impact,” Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan has said.

He urged the Young Gandhians Forum and the Gandhi Memorial Museum to adopt 21st century style for taking Gandhi to the youngsters, by using latest technology-social media etc. “The most misunderstood person in the world is Mahatma Gandhi. Everybody blames him and there are wrong opinions spread about him. There is even a book titled Gandhian Controversies. His style of functioning and approach was different, and he firmly believed in people’s power,” Prof.Srinivasan added.

Mrs.S.Selvageetha (Diary Selva), Senior RJ in Hello FM 106.4 and Mr.M.Senthil Kumar, advocate and treasurer of Gandhi Memorial Museum, have stressed on the importance of the Young Gandhians Forum and the need to inculcate positive thoughts among the young minds.

Mr.K.R.Nanda Rao, Secretary, Gandhi Memorial Museum-Madurai, welcomed the gathering while Mr.R.Natarajan, Education Officer and Curator in-charge of the museum, had proposed a vote of thanks.
