FLYING HIGH: Launch of helicopter operations and VIL Heli Station at NAAS College near Madurai airport on August 27th 2026.

MADURAI: Travel and tourism experience is all set to go to new heights from Madurai region as private helicopter service has been launched in Madurai today by an aviation company that is well equipped in helicopter operations with safety features and aviation professionals.

VIL Aviation Private Limited had started ‘VIL Heli Station’-South India Helicopter Operations Base at Nagarathinam Angalammal Arts and Science College which is situated near the airport here and announced its plans to promote aerial mobility which will be very useful for travel, tourism, business visits, corporate needs, medical emergency etc.

The helicopter service was formally launched from the base created in NAAS College campus here today-August 27th 2026-and VIL Heli Station was inaugurated by chief guest Mr.Karumuttu Hari Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Thiagarajar Mills Pvt Ltd-Madurai in the presence of Mr.K.T.Srinivasa Raja, Managing Director, Adayar Ananda Bhavan Sweets India Pvt Ltd and Mr.V.Neethi Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director, Vaighai Group of Industries-Madurai who were guests of honour.

Dr.N.Jegatheesan, secretary and correspondent of Nagarathinam Angalammal Arts and Science College-Madurai, has said that the commencement of helicopter service will be a great practical learning experience for students of aviation courses and it also adds to regional connectivity for travel, tourism and medical purposes.

NAAS College had entered into a MoU with VIL Aviation Private Limited and steps will be initiated soon to provide a VIP lounge, passengers waiting area, cafetaria etc at this heli station.
