
MADURAI: Women who made exemplary service to society in various fields and had pioneered the spirit of women leadership were recognized at the International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 held at Fatima College in Madurai on March 6th 2026.
The awards ceremony event was organized in the college campus here yesterday jointly with Pioneer Foundation-Madurai by presenting Women Achiever Awards to women who have made significant impact in diverse fields such as education, social service, entrepreneurship, community development and governance.
AWARDEES NAMES:
Those who received Woman Achiever Award include Dr.Uma Kannan, president, Thiagarajar College-Madurai, Dr.Sr.M.Francisa Flora, former Principal and Secretary of Fatima College, Mrs.Gaja Dhayalan, founder of Joyavanam Forestry and Farming, Mrs.G.Susila Gurusamy of Star Guru Charitable Foundation, Mrs.Revathy Rajiv, founder of Rise to Roots and Art of Living coach, Dr.M.Kavitha, senior consultant neurologist, Dr.Sonia Selwin, founder and president of Peace Alliance-USA, Mrs.Sreemathy Srikumar, chief architect and design officer, Vasavi Promoters Pvt Ltd, Dr.Gayathri Vijayarajan, consultant dental surgeon, Mrs.A.Vijayalakshmi, social worker at AKKI-Madurai, Mrs.Gunaseeli Vincent, social activist, Dr.Sr.Sahaya Sangeetha, member, Tamil Nadu Women’s Development Corporation and Mrs.P.Premalatha, chairperson, District Child Welfare Committee.
The other awardees are Dr.P.Vijaya Bharathi, former secretary of Tamil Nadu Cultural Academy Trust-Madurai, Dr.Akiba, founder, Ukan Foundation-Madurai, R.Senthamil Selvi, social activist, Mrs.A.Indhumathi, entrepreneur, Mrs.G.Moogambigai, founder, Sudharsha Siragugal-Madurai and Ms.U.Amulya Eshwari, international athlete.
INVITEES FOR WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION:
According to a press release here, Fatima College had invited special guests for the Women’s Day celebration event and they include Dr.V.Kalaiselvi, Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education-Madurai Region, Mrs.R.Gandhimathy, District Social Welfare Officer, Dr.R.Radhika Devi, Director, Women’s Studies Centre at Madurai Kamaraj University and Mr.T.Gurusamy, founder, Star Guru Charitable Foundation besides Dr.Sr.Ignatius Mary, Secretary of Fatima College and Dr.Bimla Chandrasekar, Director, EKTA-Madurai and Rev.Dr.Vincent Manoharan, human rights defender and Dalit Theologian.
Students of Fatima College who participated in the wall painting awareness programme on prohibition of child marriage and women empowerment were given a cash prize of Rs.1,000 each and a certificate.
Dr.Sr.M.Fatima Mary, Principal, Fatima College, had welcomed the gathering while Mr.Raja David, founder, Pioneer Foundation, had proposed a vote of thanks.
