MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has today- February 25th 2026- transferred the corruption irregularities case in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) for a detailed probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

This direction comes for the writ petition filed as PIL by G.Venkateshan of Kulasekarankottai in Vadipatti taluk of Madurai district who sought an impartial and time-bound enquiry into the allegations of corruption and serious irregularities against one Mrs.S.V.Gomathi who is an influential person in the university administration.

“S.V.Gomathi joined as a junior clerk in MKU in the year 2013 by drawing a salary of Rs.10,000 per month. She became an influential person holding various positions in the varsity and is presently serving as superintendent in S.O. section…..The properties acquired by her are disproportionate to her known sources of income….and there are several allegations of bribe that she collected from private DE centre coordinators to evade mandatory fees payable to MKU. I am afraid that she is abusing her official position and the university is shielding her instead of taking appropriate action despite my complaint. So, I am requesting for an impartial enquiry into the corruption allegations in MKU,” the petitioner G.Venkateshan has said in his petition in Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, with the MKU Registrar and DVAC among the respondents.
