MADURAI: The 77th annual sports day of Lady Doak College in Madurai was celebrated today-February 20th 2026-with a motivating message to sports enthusiasts that their achievements in sports as students will help them secure a bright future with employment opportunities.
L.Sujatha, general manager, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu-Chennai, Dr.J.Vijay, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Ball Badminton Association and deputy registrar of PSNA College of Engineering and Technology who is a former Indian ball badminton player.
A marchpast was conducted for the sports day celebration today and Department of English (aided) bagged the first place while the second place went to Department of Mathematics (aided) and third place was bagged by Department of Mathematics (SF), and the fourth place was shared by English department (SF) and department of computer science, a press release from LDC has informed.
Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College, had welcomed the guests and the annual sports day event was organized by Directors of Physical Education Major T.Shantha Meena and Dr.M.Hemalatha, the press release added.
The ceremonial torch of annual sports day 2026 was lit by LDC Principal Dr.Beulah Jeyashree and taken up by Ms.J.Jerlin Anika, Ms.M.Shegavalli, Ms.B.Lavanya, Ms.C.Janice Stella, Ms.M.Guna Sri, Ms.D.Sai Samyuktha, Ms.E.Gopika, Ms.M.Abarna and Ms.D.Punitha.
While the overall Intramural Championship Trophy went to the Department of History, the individual championship trophy was secured by Ms.S.Ishwarya from the Department of History, the LDC press release has said.
