MADURAI: Southern Railway General Manager Mr.R.N.Singh had today inspected the railway station redevelopment works that are being carried out at Rameswaram railway station to provide top class amenities to pilgrims who come to the famous temple destination of Rameswaram from various parts of the country.

On February 4th 2026, he carried out inspection and reviewed the present stage of works at Rameswaram along with top railway officials and technical staff who are involved in the execution of redevelopment works project being done at a cost of Rs.112 crores in Rameswaram railway station as the Ministry of Railways and Government of India are very particularly focused to create good world class facilities at Rameswaram railway station in Tamil Nadu.

Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Railway Division Mr.Om Prakash Meena and Chief Engineer of construction organization of southern railway Mr.S.P.Singh were among those present during the GM’s inspection at Rameswaram today along with branch officers of Madurai Division, according to a railway press release here today- February 4th 2026.

Various facilities are now being created at Rameswaram railway station like good ambience, spacious waiting lounge, ticketing area, departure and arrival terminals’ convenience, lifts and escalators etc with a futuristic idea and the works are at an advanced stage of execution, and the Rameswaram railway station redevelopment project incorporates Rameswaram temple inspired architecture, G+2 terminal buildings, five lifts, four escalators, upgraded platforms and enhanced passenger amenities especially for the pilgrims, and the total project is targeted for completion by March 2026.

The Southern Railway General Manager had also inspected today the works that are being carried out at Ramanathapuram railway station.
