MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA) has urged Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Mr.Govi.Chezhiaan for his immediate intervention to remove and relieve the present Registrar in-charge of MKU Prof.Dr.M.Ramakrishnan because of persistent shortcomings in his official functioning and fair discharge of duties.
In a representation submitted to the Minister on October 9th 2025, the association had cited five reasons for making this demand and also stated that MUFA will be forced to launch an agitation for protecting teachers’ rights and academic enviornment in the varsity campus here and also for its main agenda point to get Career Advancement Scheme 2022 promotions for the eligible faculty.
“The Registrar in-charge has not convened faculty meetings, department heads meetings for more than two years now. He is trying to create discord between teaching and non-teaching staff. He is showing bias in favour of a few faculty members mentioned in the recommendations of high-level committee while ignoring others. He is misuing his position to disrupt the normal academic and administrative processes,” the MUFA has said in its latest petition to the Higher Education Minister.
SPENDING TIME IN ESTATE OFFICER’S ROOM:
The MUFA representation letter was signed by its president Dr.T.Arokiadoss, general secretary Dr.C.Muniyandi and treasurer Dr.V.Shanmugaiah after taking into account the prevailing opinion of university faculty and its EC members.
In their complaint, the MUFA team had pointed out that the present MKU Registrar in-charge spends about two hours daily in the university estate officer’s room without any official explanation which raises concerns about his transprency.
“So, MUFA has resolved at its recent meeting to intensify its struggle for his removal and replacement due to his style of functioning. Faculty promotions have been stalled and CAS 2002 file is not placed in the finance committee meeting. Why this delay? It is affecting the faculty’s morale. We want the Registrar to be relieved from his duties immediately and appoint a senior professor to this important post in MKU,” the petition submitted by MUFA has said on October 9th 2025.
