MADURAI: For the pilgrims and tourists who are going to famous pilgrimage site Sathuragiri Hills in the Western Ghats near Srivilliputtur in Virudhunagar district and for the large number of people who travel from Madurai to this temple, there is a good news from the heart point of view and from their emergency health need.
Senior cardiologist in Madurai Dr.A.Mathavan and his team has given CPR basic training through their Active Heart Foundation on June 27th 2025 to the local residents of Sathuragiri foothills as a community health empowerment step so that the tribal community there can attend cardiac emergency if they are trained in COLS-CPR (Compression Only Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
“The training session at Sathuragiri Hills was supported by Dr.Vidarshan Mathavan and coordinator Mrs.Raju Krishnapriya Madhavan to equip the local tribal people there with life-saving skills. Hands-on training was given on emergency response techniques in remote areas where immediate medical assistance is needed, especially heart emergency,” according to a press release here today.
Senior interventional cardiologist Dr.A.Mathavan has said that heart attacks, cardiac arrest and heart patients must be attended immediately at Sathuragiri Hills and hence a basic training program was conducted there for about 50 people through mock scenarios.
