
MADURAI: A mega e-waste collection drive had commenced in Madurai city today thanks to the climate change initiative taken by Young Indians (Yi) Madurai Chapter, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to keep Madurai clean and green.
The e-waste collection began on May 15th 2025 from Satya Elite apartments complex at Iyer Bungalow area in the city where the residents had voluntarily and enthusiastically came forward to give the electronic waste items in their homes because the focus of this collection drive is sustainable future with focus on World Environment Day on June 5th, and till that date this e-waste collection drive will be carried out at various places in Madurai city.
The team of office-bearers from Young Indians Madurai Chapter including Mr.Shenher Lal, Mr.Vikranth Karmegam and Mr.Pon Kumar along with other members are involved in this drive, and all the collected e-waste items will be handed over to the recycling centres which are approved by the Madurai Corporation.
“Our focus is on climate change mission. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Save Earth is the the overall objective of Young Indian Madurai Chapter. You can give your old electronics items and the e-waste that can be collected are unused mobile phones, mobile chargers, earphones, headphones, power banks, remotes, electronic toys, rechargeable batteries, laptops, desktops, printers, modems, adapters, LED bulbs, induction stoves, hair dryers, trimmers, washing machines etc. The e-waste collection will be done from offices, commercial complexes, residential apartments etc. Those who want to make use of this drive can contact mobile number 87784-58425 and a vehicle will come to collect the e-waste,” Mr.Pon Kumar of Young Indians Madurai Chapter has said here today-May 15th 2025.
