MADURAI: Highly reliable political sources of various parties in Chennai have today indicated that a grand alliance will be formed by the end of December this year for the 2026 State Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

It was learnt that the coming together of AIADMK and BJP is almost a certainty for the assembly polls and unofficial informal talks have now started to rope in actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) into the pre-poll alliance in Tamil Nadu because their common objective is to defeat the DMK in the coming elections at any cost.

“Middle level leaders of BJP and TVK are in touch now. It is being done unofficially…But it is certain that AIADMK and BJP will join hands soon for the assembly elections. The PMK will be there in this alliance along with other smaller parties. Whats is important is that actor Vijay’s TVK party is being seen as an important player for victory in coming elections by both AIADMK and the BJP. So, BJP will go slow and tone down its approach towards criticizing the Vijay’s new party because of his mass following among the youth. There will be some changes soon and the final alliance will look like the joining of hands of AIADMK-TVK-PMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu. This will happen in December 2025 so that there will be sufficient time for joint campaigning. All eyes are on Vijay’s decision and there is a possibility that TVK will join the proposed alliance,” political sources told ‘Lotus Times’ English news website on February 1st 2025.

Reliable sources also said that TVK president Mr.Vijay is being convinced by the BJP middle level leaders to follow Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena political model in Andhra Pradesh where he became a very strong political force as Deputy Chief Minister by forging an alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and N.Chandrababu Naidu to oust the then Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party in the 2024 assembly elections in which the TDP-Janasena-BJP combine had swept the polls in Andhra Pradesh with a huge mandate from the AP voters.
