Gandhi comes Digital; Pen drive on Mahatma’s life released in Madurai for present day Indian youth (Part-1)

MADURAI: A pen drive highlighting the great life of Mahatma Gandhi in digital format to reach the present generation of youth in India in an effective manner was released at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai today- on August 8th 2024.

Dr.G.Natchiar, one of the founding members of world famous Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai and Padma Shri Award recipient, had released the pen drive prepared by the National Gandhi Museum in New Delhi and it was received by advocate Mr.M.Senthil Kumar, treasurer of Gandhi Memorial Museum, at an event in Madurai today.

This pen drive saying ‘Gandhi for Digital Era’ was released at the inaugural session of one-day refresher course organized jointly by Gandhian Thought College, Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research, Gandhi Smarak Nidhi-Tamil Nadu, at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai on August 8th 2024 for the faculty teaching Gandhian Thought courses in colleges.

Mr.A.Annamalai, Director, National Gandhi Museum-New Delhi, told ‘Lotus Times’ news website in Madurai today that ‘Gandhi for Digital Era’ is to highlight the life of Gandhiji through pictures in a digital manner that will easily reach the youth.

“There are 600 photographs in this digital format with biographical sketch, landmark events of Gandhiji, and to give information in a digital nutshell of the life of Mahatma Gandhi in various stages….commemorative volumes, there is a biographical short film and events that show the Independence struggle. Now, we brought out the digital version in English. It will give a very good digital version experience for the current younger generation through audio-visuals, landmark events in Gandhi’s life etc,” Mr.A.Annamalai, Director, National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi, has said in Madurai on August 8th 2024.

Mr.K.R.Nanda Rao, secretary of Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai and Gandhian Thought experts Prof.Chandrasekaran and retired MKU professor Dr.S.Andiappan along with Prof.R.Devadoss, Mr.R.Natarajan and others had addressed the participants at this refresher course organized for the benefit of those who are teaching Gandhian Thought courses (certificate, diploma courses etc) in colleges. The significant contributions made by Gandhian Thought beacon late Arunachalam were recalled at today’s meeting in Madurai.
